Express Workshop: The Big Sit x World Urban Parks
Don't just do something, sit there
The Big Sit was born out of a premise to bring people together to practice mindfulness meditation in the city. Organized by Mindful Moments in collaboration with the Conscious Cities Index research project, and initiated by a group of volunteers, the first Big Sit took place on Mindfulness Day on 12 September 2020 at Urban Park, Guoco Tower in the CBD of Singapore. The Big Sit has since taken place regularly at various places including Urban Park and Gardens By The Bay in Singapore, as well as London, with the aim of driving purposeful use of urban spaces in the city to improve the mental health and wellbeing of citizens, as well as collectively build a healthier and more conscious society. We envision that The Big Sit will inspire more people to make intentional use of spaces in their cities to practice mindfulness and be able to eventually extend these skills to their personal and professional lives. What to prepare: -Participants are encouraged to arrive 10 minutes earlier to set up their practice space. -Participants are encouraged to dress in comfortable clothing and shoes, and bring along their own yoga mat / large towel to sit on, as well as drinking water.
