About Congress

  • + What is the event?

    The World Parks Congress is an event that takes place annually that aims to bring together and train professionals, public officials, technicians, decision makers, academics, students, civil society and providers related to public space in one place, to promote the urban parks and recreation industry. It is a space of five days of training, conferences, workshops and a trade show with suppliers from Mexico and around the world.

  • + When and where is the event?

    The World Urban Parks Congress will be in person event from November 14 to 18 in Monterrey, Nuevo León. We will wait for you at the Cintermex convention center.

    The World Parks Congress has various activities, we invite you to learn about each one on our website. Remember that we have:

  • + How are the activities divided?

    -Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 November: Curriculum Workshops and Experiential Workshops
    -Wednesday 16, Thursday 17 and Friday 18: Master Conferences, Educational Sessions and Commercial
    -Commercial Exhibition: Expo Parks and Social Events.

  • + Who attends?

    The congress will bring together leaders including: architects, landscapers, sociologists, administrators, engineers, urban planners, public officials, technicians, decision makers, academics, students, civil society and equipment suppliers from Latin America and the world.

    Remember that you do not have to be an expert in parks or public spaces to attend the congress.

  • + Who organizes it?

    You don´t have to be a park specialist, all you need is the passion and motivation to want to learn and develop best practices in the public space industry.

Registration

  • + Is it necessary to register all 5 days?

    When buying your ticket to the congress, keynote speeches, educational sessions, Expo Parques and social events are included*.
    The experiential and curricular workshops take place on Monday, November 14 and Tuesday, November 15 and are purchased additionally.
    It is not necessary to attend all 5 days of the congress but we recommend that you participate in all the activities in order to maximize your experience at the congress.

  • + Can I register the day of the event?

    We highly recommend that you register in advance to ensure your participation in the congress, take advantage of discounts for early registration and plan which activities to attend to get the most out of the event. However, there will be registration modules during the days of the congress. Don´t forget that space is limited.

  • + Are there promotions for groups?

    We have different discounts and promotions for groups such as students, professionals, etc. You can request information at wupcongress@worldurbanparks.org to ask for specific information.

  • + When can I register?

    Starting in June you will be able to register for the congress from our website, you will simply have to click on the "Participate" button and follow the instructions.

  • + What does my registration include?

    Registration for the conference includes the following:
    6 master conferences
    +40 educational sessions
    +15 experiential and curricular workshops*

    * Workshops are purchased additionally
    **The opening and closing social events are not included in the student category ticket.

  • + Are food, transportation and lodging included?

    Transportation from your city to Monterrey, internal transfers within the city and accommodation are NOT INCLUDED in the cost of the congress. Which means that those expenses will have to be accounted for in your budget for the trip. Each attendee is responsible for food and lodging expenses.

  • + Can I request an invitation letter?

    If your work or your organization requires a letter of invitation, you can request it by sending an email to wupcongress@worldurbanparks.org

  • + What ticket should I buy?

    If you are from an emerging country, you can choose the ticket for emerging countries that has a preferential cost. If not, you can choose the general admission.

  • + Is there a refund?

    If you require any clarification information, you can write to wupcongress@worldurbanparks.org to request more information.

  • + What is the registration process?

    The registration process is as follows:

    STEP 1: Select one of the event tickets according to your profile on our website.
    STEP 2: If you have a discount code, add it in the DISCOUNT CODE section.
    STEP 3: On the purchase page, select one of the profiles.
    STEP 4: If you wish, you can additionally add experiential or curricular workshops which will have an extra cost. Once you have finished, click the continue button and review the purchase summary.
    STEP 5: Fill in all the information fields verifying that they are written correctly, this will be used if you require an invoice, when creating your participation badge for the congress and for your participation diploma.
    STEP 6: Use the payment method of your choice and complete the purchase.
    STEP 7: Check the email that has the entry ticket with a PDF and folio document. **IMPORTANT: check your Inbox, Trash or SPAM folder.

  • + Can I share my badge?

    No, sharing badges with other attendees is not allowed.

  • + What is an emerging country?

    A country is considered “emerging country” for this registration purposes when its GPD is lower than 25,000 on any of the past three years.

Workshops

  • + What is an experiential workshop?

    In the experiential workshops you will learn about tourist attractions and citizen projects related to public space; There will be experts on the subject and collaborators from the host city who will share for 4 hours their experiences in the administration of these spaces, the challenges they have faced and the activities they have implemented.
    Some of these places will be the Rufino Tamayo Park, Chipinque Ecological Park, Fundidora Park, among others.

  • + What is a curriculum workshop?

    In these workshops you will be able to obtain technical knowledge on a specialized topic. For 4 hours you will have the guidance of a specialist who will help you expand your knowledge and learn techniques and processes on various topics in public space.
    At the end you will have a certificate of curricular value signed by the workshop facilitator.

  • + Where are the workshops?

    The experiential workshops will take place in different parks and public spaces in the city where the event will take place. Likewise, some of the curricular workshops will take place in the Cintermex convention center.

  • + When are the workshops?

    The experiential and curricular workshops will be during the first two days of the congress, that is, Monday, November 14 and Tuesday, November 15.

  • + Will I receive a workshop diploma?

    Yes, at the end of the experiential and curricular workshops, a certificate of participation with curricular value will be sent to your email.

  • + What do the workshops include?

    The curricular and experiential workshops include transportation, lunch box and materials.

  • + How can I be a workshopper?

    If you are a leader of a movement, park or public space and you are interested in being a workshoper, you can write to wupcongress@worldurbanparks.org for more information.

  • + How can I volunteer?

    The registration period to be a volunteer is from July 2022. What you need to volunteer is:
    -Enroll in the volunteer program within the specified period.
    -Fill out the volunteer form.
    -Be available to volunteer for at least one day of the Congress.
    -Attend online training. (This training is essential)
    -Comply with the times and shifts of the congress activities.

  • + How can I present my scientific poster?

    You can register your scientific poster as soon as the call is open from our website, you will simply have to click on the "Participate" button and follow the instructions. Once the call is over you will no longer be able to participate.

  • + Where and when is Expo Parques held?

    Expo Parques takes place from November 16 to 18 and lasts 3 days. It will take place in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico within the Cintermex Convention Center.

  • + Can I only attend Expo Parques?

    Yes, you can register directly at the congress.

    The dress code is casual. Some WUP Congress experiences take place outdoors – like the workshops and tours, so we recommend comfortable clothing. However, the convention center has permanent air conditioning.
